FAQs
What about MEV?
MEV (Miner Extractable Value) on Dogecoin is a new topic, gaining relevance with the introduction of Doginals and Dunes. Frontrunning (or "sniping") Doginal or Dune purchases from the Mempool is increasing, though still on a small scale.
Trading with the Bones Protocol is similar to trading via DEX liquidity pools on Ethereum and Solana, which is heavily affected by MEV. This similarity naturally raises concerns that Bones could enable MEV on Dogecoin.
However, Bones has mechanisms in place to address this issue and to prevent significant MEV on Dogecoin. These mechanisms are currently in stealth mode, but we will share more details before launch.
Will there be a frontend?
Since Bones is based on ord, it also comes with the ord frontend which acts like an explorer. The Bones Ord Fork will be open source. In addition, we are working on a swap interface with an embedded DOGE wallet. The swap interface will also be open source and any company or individual can host it for others.
Swapping against DOGE?
On-chain liquidity pools with DOGE don't work with Dogecoins's current functionality. That's why a base token is needed to swap against.
However, the Bones protocol makes it possible to launch wrapped DOGE Bones (like "WDOGE") with a centralized reserve. Users could then swap Bones against wrapped DOGE directly with the Bones swap functionality.
The same would work for stable coins like e.g. USDC.
